We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Edward “Eddie” Firuta, formerly of Bayville N.J., who at the age of 62, departed from this world on June 21, 2024, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Born on May 14, 1962, in Rahway, New Jersey.
Eddie was a man of good cheer, known for his kind demeanor and the heartfelt laughter he shared with all who knew him. His love for angling and the tranquility of the waterside reflected the depth of his character and the simple joys that he cherished in life.
Throughout his professional life, Eddie was a dedicated employee at Moore and Garvey Bayville, St. Augustine Trolley Tours, Historical Tours of America in Key West and St. Augustine and A&M rentals. His passion for storytelling and his appreciation for our collective history enriched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on both tourists and colleagues.
Eddie’s educational path began at Bayville Elementary and continued through St. Joseph’s and Central Regional High Schools, culminating in further studies at Brick Computer School. His commitment to lifelong learning and self-improvement was an inspiration to those around him.
He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Gwen Weingarth; his sisters, Dawn Verello and April Flatt of Manchester NJ ,his 5 children and 5 grandchildren, who will miss his wisdom and nurturing presence.
Preceded in passing by his father, Edward Firuta Sr., Eddie now joins him in eternal rest.
A memorial service to commemorate Eddie’s life will be held 12-2pm Saturday, July 27, 2024 at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst, NJ, where family and friends are invited to pay their respects. As we bid farewell to Eddie, we do so with profound gratitude for the indelible mark he left on our lives and the assurance that his memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who knew him. Ed leaves behind many friends in Florida, North Carolina and his stomping ground where he grew up in Bayville, NJ.
