Robert Gibson, 89, of Jackson Twp. passed away Monday, September 30, 2024. Robert was a custodian for Old Bridge Board of Education for twenty-five years before retiring. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in Old Bridge before moving to Jackson Twp. in 1993. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army. Robert enjoyed building things and tinkering with things. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Joan Ann Gibson in 2018. Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Gibson, Jr. of South Amboy, Richard D. Gibson and his wife, Bethany of Howell Twp., his daughter, Sandra Ann Platukis of Old Bridge, two sisters, Rose Johnson of Iselin, Midge Afflerbach of Toms River, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Memorial gathering 2-4pm Saturday, October 5, 2024, at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst. Interment will take place privately at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
