Barbara L. Bungay, 66, of Lakehurst, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Born in Lakewood, Barbara was a lifelong resident of Lakehurst, where she touched the lives of many as a self-employed hairdresser for numerous years.

She was a talented artist and hobbyist, whose love for nature flourished in her cherished lavender garden. Deeply passionate about the environment, Barbara advocated for Pinelands Preservation.
Above all, Barbara’s greatest source of pride and joy was her family. She is predeceased by her father, George Cummings, and is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Stephen B. Bungay; her sons, Stephen II of Colorado and Nathaniel of Forked River; her daughter, Theresa Bungay of Toms River; her mother, Barbara Cummings of Lakehurst; her sister, Mary Catherine Ostrowski of Florida; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
