Peter Bylsma, Jr., 91, of Leisure Ridge, Manchester Township, passed away at home on Monday, August 18, 2025. Peter was a dedicated lineman for JCP&L in Freehold for 41 years. Born in Paterson, he made his home in several towns—Freehold, Jackson, Cape Coral, Florida, and Cookeville, Tennessee—before settling in Manchester Township 15 years ago.
Peter was a retired member of the IBEW #1289 and the Merry Mariners Boat Club of Cape Coral. His passions ranged from golfing and shooting pool to participating in bowling leagues and dart clubs. A true sports enthusiast, he enjoyed basketball and his beloved Giants.
Peter was predeceased by his wife, Sally, in 2017 and his daughter, April Ann Bylsma, in 2018. He is lovingly remembered by his three sons: Peter and his wife, Cheryl, of Manasquan; Andrew and his fiancée, Erica, of Forked River; and Stephen and his wife, Joy, of Manchester Township. Peter’s legacy also lives on in his eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of his life will be held to honor his memory and the enduring impact he had on those who knew and loved him.
I will always cherish the “Summer Vacations” and Aunt Sally & Uncle Pete’s. Uncle Pete will be missed and kept in my thoughts and prayers as Aunt Sally & April are.
Rest in Peace, Uncle Pete! Your apple trees are safe from David!
I am very sorry for your loss Stephen (and family). May the good lord wrap his arms around you during this time for comfort and clarity.
Rest in Peace, Uncle Pete. I have fond memories of you to hold onto and will never forget you.
A better uncle and a better friend, I could not have wished for. Climbing Kakeout Mountai. Playing pool in Belmar. Summer vacations and Memorial Day picnics. so many good memories.
