Alfredo Mejia, 79, of Leisure Village West in Manchester Township, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born and raised in San Salvador, El Salvador, Alfredo immigrated to the United States in 1983, first settling in Los Angeles, CA, then in Jamesburg, NJ, before making Manchester Township his home twenty years ago.
A dedicated accountant throughout his career, Alfredo later found joy in retirement working at Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck. He attended Church of St. Monica in Jackson Township. Deeply involved in AA, Alfredo served as a circuit speaker, counseling many and inspiring lasting change in their lives. He was an athlete at heart passionate about soccer and played on the office team. He had a thirst for knowledge, enjoyed reading, especially on topics of psychology, science, and mathematics.
Alfredo is survived by his wife Marina, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years, his sons Edgar Mejia of Jackson and Henry Mejia and his wife Regina of Jamesburg, his daughters Verena Soto and her husband William of Jackson and Laura Thompson of Princeton, his sister Marylou Clymore of Los Angeles, CA, his granddaughters Brianna Thompson, Irene Soto, Tatiana Soto, two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Leonardo, and many other friends and relatives.
Memorial gathering Friday, March 6, 2026, from 1pm-3pm with a religious service at 2:45pm at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst.
