Evelyn J. O’Brien, (nee Martyn) 94, formerly of Cedar Glen West, Manchester Twp. passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026. Evelyn was a librarian for South Brunswick Board of Education for many years before retiring.

Born and raised in Linden, she resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Twp. before moving to Manchester Twp. in 1998. Evelyn attended Trinity Episcopal Church, Woodbridge Twp. Evelyn was a member of Sweet Adelines of Princeton, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Evelyn enjoyed writing stories of her childhood while living with her grandparents in Linden.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents John S. Martyn and Lillian Elster and her brothers Howard Martyn, Jack Martyn, and Gerard Martyn. Evelyn is survived by her daughters; Kathy Jankov and her husband, George of Rotonda West, FL, Laura Hatley and her husband, Rod of Huntersville, NC, Eileen Doyle and her husband, Joseph of Toms River, her half-brother Edward Elster, half-sister Pauline Royal, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn will be interred at Trinity Episcopal Church, Woodbridge at a later date.
