Constance (Connie) (Concetta) Tauriello, 84, of Barnegat passed away peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2024, at home.
Connie was born on August 8, 1939, to Edward and Gladys Young, in Weehawken, New Jersey. She resided with her parents in Long Island, New York, where she enjoyed tennis, golf, and sailing with her father. She went on to study Education at Wagner College, where she met her first husband, Jerome Vincent DeMasi, was a proud member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and enjoyed working at the New York Public Library.
After graduating with a degree in Education, Connie and Jerome were married, and went on to have three children, Debra, Paul, and Daniel. Connie began her teaching career in in Ottumwa, Iowa when her husband attended Kirksville Medical school. She also taught at St. Anne’s School in Garwood and in Union Township before eventually putting her teaching career aside to raise her children and support her husband in his medical practice.
Over the many years, Connie resided in Kirksville, MO, Springfield, NJ, Mountainside, NJ, Hillsborough, NJ, and Nazareth, PA before moving to Barnegat in 2003. Connie loved boating and was happiest on the water. She enjoyed cooking, interior design, and playing cards; a spirited, fire-cracker of a woman, loved by all.
Connie was predeceased by her husband Dr. Jerome V. DeMasi in 1996. Connie is survived by her husband Richard Tauriello, two sons Dr. Paul DeMasi of Rochester, NH, Daniel DeMasi and his wife, Erin of Waretown, her daughter Dr. Debra Higuera and her husband, Shane of Chittenden, VT, six grandchildren Emily, and her husband Nick, Madison, Connor, Brody, Cassidy, Daniel, and her great-granddaughter Penelope. A celebration of her life will be held August 15, 2024. Additional details will be provided at a later date.
