Irene Kiss, 86, of Whiting passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. Irene was a cook for Jane Addams Daycare Center, Toms River before retiring. Born in Budapest, Hungary, she came to Canada in the early 1960’s and then came to the United States and resided in Avenel, NJ before moving to Whiting in 1999. Irene was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Browns Mills Congregation. Irene was a seamstress for years and knitted clothes. Irene was a sign language and Hungarian interpreter and taught at Perth Amboy Congregation for deaf persons. Irene also worked as an interpreter in courts, doctor’s offices and anywhere her services were needed. Irene was predeceased by her husband Kalman in 2011 and her brother Miklos Pafkovits. Irene is survived by two daughters Barbara Saporito and her husband, Joe of Morrison, CO, Ramona Durbin and her husband, Ken of Hightstown, and 1 grandson Luke G. Durbin. Visitation 3-6pm Friday, January 12, 2024, at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst. There will be a memorial talk 11am Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 649 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
