On August 2nd Joseph C. Longo passed away at the incredible age of 105. He is survived by his son Larry, daughter Linda, grandchildren Justin, Alex, and Shannon, and great grandchildren Vincent and Molly. Joseph was one of 12 children of an immigrant couple from Italy. Joseph worked for the Orange, NJ Post Office for 33 years before retiring to Whiting, NJ.
Joseph served in the US Army and completed a tour in Europe during WWII. Yes, he was one of the very few remaining members of the rapidly vanishing Greatest Generation. His service in WWII is a true testament to his bravery and dedication to our country. To make his passing even more somber, his “kid” brother Peter passed away 36 hours after Joseph at the age of 100. God was merciful in reuniting these two brothers who has been together for 100 years here on earth.
He will be greatly missed by his family who have been blessed with a loving and generous father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Rest in Peace knowing you will be dearly loved and remembered forever by those whose lives you have deeply touched. Memorial gathering 11am-1pm Tuesday September 19, 2023, at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
