Pauline Iscaro, 96, of Edison, NJ formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Pauline worked for many years at several factories including A & M Karagheusian Rugs in Roselle Park, where she met the love of her life, Frank Iscaro, before retiring. Born in Jacobs Creek, Pennsylvania, she spent most of her life in Roselle Park before relocating to Whiting in 2000.
Pauline was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank, in 2015, her son-in-law, Frank Peraino, and her nine siblings. She is survived by her children: Joseph Iscaro and his wife Sharon of Kenilworth, who lovingly cared for Pauline for many years, Frank Iscaro and his wife Denise of Metuchen, and Diana Peraino of Shrewsbury, MA. She was the proud grandmother of seven beloved grandchildren—Jason Iscaro, Mark Iscaro, Paul Peraino, Dana Rizzo, Lisa Edmonson, Danielle Reda, and David Peraino—and their spouses, as well as nine cherished great-grandchildren.
Pauline’s hard work ethic and quiet generosity defined her life. She always found ways to humbly support her family. Pauline will be fondly remembered as a kind and welcoming person who got along with everyone she met. Her great sense of humor and ability to bring joy to any occasion made her a cherished presence at every family gathering. Pauline never missed a family party, often providing much of the food, and she celebrated her grandchildren’s milestones with unwavering enthusiasm. Trips to the mall and flea market with their grandmother remain unforgettable memories for her grandchildren, who adored her adventurous spirit and knack for making everyday outings special. Pauline’s and Frank’s Christmas Eve celebrations were legendary and will forever hold a special place in her family’s hearts.
She found immense joy in holding her great-grandchildren, cooking her infamous stuffed cabbage and kielbasa with sauerkraut for others, and perfecting the art of Italian cuisine including eggplant parmesan, the Feast of the Seven Fishes, and using her bare hands and a gallon of olive oil to toss the daily salad —a skill she embraced after meeting her husband.
Beyond her devotion to family, Pauline enjoyed penny slot machines, craft projects and spending quiet moments with her favorite word searches. Her warmth, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the team members at Brighton Gardens of Edison for their exceptional care for Pauline. Services will be private.
Diana , So sorry for your loss. Losing your Mom is never easy no matter her age or your time together. I love the comment about how she tossed the salad with her bare hands…Ron’s Mom did it the same way!! I pray that your memories will fill you with the love and joy that she inspired. God bless you and your family.
Diane and Joe, my sympathies are with you both during this most difficult time.
