Bartholomew J. McGrath, 89, of Whiting N.J. passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Bartholomew worked for the New York Transit Authority for many years before retiring. He also worked for the Manalapan Recreation Center.

Mr. McGrath was born and raised in Manhattan, NY, he resided in Central New Jersey and Kentucky before settling in Whiting N.J. Bartholomew served in the U.S. National Guard. He was a past eucharist minister and upon moving to Whiting became a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church where he attended daily mass.

Bartholomew was predeceased by his parents Mary Ellen and James McGrath, his twin brother John Thomas McGrath, and older brother James McGrath. He is survived by three sons, Kevin McGrath and his wife Michele of KY, Robert McGrath and his wife Robin of NC, Brian McGrath and his fiancé Lisa of NJ. Three siblings, his brother Jack McGrath and his wife Terry of NJ, his sisters Joan Pusey of NH and Geraldine Bierach of NJ. His sister Maureen Glende passed away two days after Mr. McGrath. Mr. McGrath is also survived by two stepsons, Anthony Toscano and his wife Toni-Marie of NJ and James Toscano and his wife Monica of NJ, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:45 on August 13, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting N.J. with interment immediately following.
