Louis S. Pennisi, affectionately known to many as Uncle Lou, passed away on April 5, 2026, at the age of 89. He was a proud veteran, loving friend, and cherished member of his community.
Born on June 29, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey, Louis was raised in Belleville, where he spent much of his life before relocating to Toms River in 2007.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army and often reminisced on his time stationed in Germany. Following his military service, Louis was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. During retirement, he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures – spending time with friends over coffee, playing his numbers, and betting on the horses.
He was predeceased by his parents, Caroline (Ferraiolo) & Anthony Pennisi; survived by several cousins, deeply devoted chosen family, and many friends. His presence was steady and comforting, and his impact on those around him will not be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on April 10, 2026, from 2pm-5pm at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst, NJ.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
My deepest condolences to the family of Louis S. Pennisi, words of comfort can be read in the bible books of Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29 here the scriptures is to let all know that soon God is going to due completely away with all sicknesses and deaths, also in the book of Isaiah 33:24 it tells us that very soon NO ONE at anytime will be saying “I am sick”
My deepest condolences for your loss. Sending healing thoughts and love your way.

Louis was a kind man and a very good athlete in his youth. We were friends who lived in the same building in Newark and often watched TV together when television was new. Louis would bring sweets to share with us while watching. A true gentleman.
Our sincere condolences,
The Tuosto Family
